Kazakhstan will grant military assistance to the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan said on Monday.

The agreement was reached following the talks between the Ministers of Defence of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Adilbek Dzhaksybekov and Sherali Khayrulloev in Dushanbe.

The document is aimed at enhancing the defense capabilities of Tajikistan and justified by the need for a legal framework between the defense ministries of the two countries.

"One of the key moments in military cooperation with Tajikistan is the development of education. A quota is being allocated annually for training Tajik soldiers in the military high schools of Kazakhstan," Kazakhstan's Defence Minister said during a visit to the Military Institute of the Tajik Defence Ministry.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation and prospects for development of military education.
