Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will take part in the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new president Hassan Rouhani in Tehran, official representative of the Kazakh central communication service Altai Abibullayev said at a briefing in Astana on Monday.
"At the invitation of Iran, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will take part in the inauguration ceremony of newly elected Iran's president Hassan Rouhani on August 4," he said. "The presidents of other countries and heads of the governments and parliaments of other countries were invited to the ceremony."
According to him, the Kazakh president will hold a bilateral meeting with his Iranian counterpart in Tehran.
"In general, I would like to stress that Kazakhstan and Iran, as Caspian countries, are involved in the negotiation processes on determining the legal status of the Caspian Sea," he added. "Our country supports friendly relations with Iran. We are actively developing political, trade and economic relations with Iran."
According to him, Kazakhstan will continue to actively develop transport and transit infrastructure with Iran. He also recalled that the Kazakh-Turkmen railway was opened in the Mangistau region in Kazakhstan in May. It must stretch out to Iran in the future, which will ensure delivery of Kazakh exports to the Persian Gulf.
Nazarbayev has previously sent a congratulatory telegram to Hassan Rouhani on the occasion of his election as Iran's president.
