Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev met on Thursday with the Secretary General of the International Exhibitions Bureau Vicente Lossertales, who is on a visit to Astana, the presidential press-service reported.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of staging EXPO-2017 in Astana.
"We have analyzed the best experiences of staging EXPO in many countries around the world. In this regard, the most important thing is what the county gains from the exhibition, and what is after its completion. We must do our best to make the infrastructure [created for EXPO-2017] useful and beneficial for our capital and the whole country," Nazarbayev said.
The President said that the concept of the transition to "green economy" adopted by Kazakhstan concur with the theme of the exhibition "Energy for the future."
In turn, Lossertales said Kazakhstan works efficient and effectively to hold EXPO 2017.
"All necessary documents, including the registration dossier are almost ready. The dossier will be presented by the end of 2013, then, we will conduct our internal procedures and complete the registration next year," the General Secretary of the International Exhibitions Bureau said.
Nazarbayev and Lossertales stressed the importance of promoting exhibitions both at the national and international level.
During his visit to Kazakhstan, Lossertalesu examined some draft chapters of registration dossiers, in particular, the exploitation plan of facilities built for the exhibition following its completion, the communication plan, and the exhibition content plan revealing the theme "Energy for the future".
EXPO has been held since 1851. The International Exhibitions, which is the primary authority for registering world exhibitions, was created in 1928.
