Senate chairman of the Kazakh Parliament Kairat Mami has met with Speaker of the Iranian parliament, Ali Larijani during his visit to Ashgabat, the Kazakh Senate said today.
Larijani is on a visit to Turkmenistan.
'The sides discussed urgent issues of global and regional security and in particular the situation in Syria and Afghanistan', the statement said. 'The sides also exchanged views on the prospects of multilateral negotiations on the Iranian nuclear programme'.
Larijani stressed the importance of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to Tehran in August 2013 and participation at his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani's inauguration.
According to him, Iran intends to continue cooperating with Kazakhstan in the spirit of mutually fruitful partnership. Both sides will pay special attention to the commissioning of the North-South (Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran) railway transport corridor soon.
