The Nur Otan parliamentary faction did not support a bill on increasing taxes on transport and housing in Kazakhstan, Speaker of the Majilis (lower chamber of Parliament) Nurlan Nigmatulin said at a meeting of the parliamentary faction.

The bill on 'Amendments and additions to some legislative acts on taxation of the Republic of Kazakhstan' was considered.

"Our faction does not support the government's variant of the bill on taxation in respect of cars and housing," he said.

In his view, the government's approach does not take into account the president's instructions given in 2008. A certain task was set. While forming the Tax Code, it is necessary to impose indirect taxes on luxury goods, real estate, cars, rather than shift all of this on to the middle class.

"Therefore, we believe that the government's amendments to the tax code should be changed taking into account the president's instructions," Nigmatulin added.
