A memorandum of understanding was signed between KazMunayGas (KMG) and Shell Kazakhstan Development BV during the eighth Eurasian Forum KAZENERGY in Astana on Wednesday.
The memorandum concerns examining the cooperation opportunities in the field of geological and physical characteristics of the field within the implementation of the "Road map of scientific and technological development of the mining sector of the Kazakh oil and gas industry", the Kazakh national company said.
"I am pleased that as part of our commitments to the Council of Foreign Investors, Shell and KMG are the first companies which begin the practical implementation of the "road map", Shell Kazakhstan Development BV director general Campbell Keir said.
He expressed confidence that the optimization of partnership within the road map implementation will contribute to the establishment of systematic interaction between business and science and focus on cost-effective research and technological development in Kazakhstan.
"The road map will be the guideline for the development of the Kazakh oil and gas industry and project implementation," deputy chairman of the board on innovative development and service projects of KazMunayGas Magzum Mirzagaliev, who signed a memorandum from the national company, said. "This will be a guaranteed order and the basis for the formation of long-term development programs for the domestic business and science. KazMunayGas plans to continue working over the road map through its practical realization."
