Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) will host a Kazakh-Malaysian business forum on Dec.18, Kazakhstan's Chamber of Commerce said on Dec.16.

"Representatives from business circles, as well as officials will discuss the opportunities of cooperation in the mining sector, engineering, an agro-industrial complex, energy and medicine, as well as present investment opportunities in both countries," the Chamber of Commerce said.

Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan, Ruslan Tasbergenov and Vice-President of Kazakhstan's Chamber of Commerce, Ayan Erenov, as well as a representative of the KAZNEX INVEST National Export and Investment Agency will be the speakers at the business forum. During the event there will be opportunities' for bilateral meetings between representatives of Kazakh and Malaysian companies.

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Malaysia demonstrates a steady growth.

Between the two countries it reached $97.1 million in 2011 and $109 million in 2012.

In accordance with the Trade Agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Malaysia, a joint Kazakh-Malaysian trade and economic committee was created on May 27, 1996. Co-chairman of the Kazakh side is the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Bakytzhan Sagintayev and from the Malaysian side, Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Mustapa Mohamed.

Kazakhstan and Malaysia successfully interact within a multilateral structure. Both countries are active supporters of UN reform and enlargement of the Security Council.

Malaysia has an observer status at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) where it is represented at the level of the Malaysian Ambassador to Kazakhstan. Kuala Lumpur supports Kazakhstan's application to participate in the Regional Forum of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on security.
