Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Swiss Confederation President Didier Burkhalter have discussed key aspects of Kazakh-Swiss relations and prospects for their further development, according to the official website of Akorda, the Kazakh president's residence.

An exchange of views on topical issues on the international agenda has also taken place, according to Akorda's website.

Nursultan Nazarbayev and Didier Burkhalter have also paid special attention to the systematic strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation, both bilaterally and within international organisations.

The Kazakh president said that Switzerland is one of the country's major trading partners in Europe. Such large Swiss companies as Algroup, Rieter and Glencore operate in Kazakhstan.

The parties emphasised there is a need for further active work by the Kazakh-Swiss Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Following the meeting of the two countries leaders, they expressed confidence in a dynamic growth of bilateral cooperation in the near future.
