Astana, Kazakhstan, Feb.27
By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Kazakh oil and gas company UzenMunaiGas (UMG, a subsidiary of KazMunaiGas Exploration Production JSC) does not agree with the claims of the Mangystau Province Environment Department on restitution of damages for pollution of the environment, KazMunaiGas Exploration Production JSC said on Feb.27.

Earlier, the Environment Department laid a claim to UzenMunaiGas JSC for the amount of 327.9 billion tenge ($1=184.95 tenge) for the restitution of environmental damage as a result of placement of contaminated soil, KazMunaiGas Exploration Production JSC said.

"The claim was laid for the same reason as the administrative fine of 212.6 billion tenge, as well as the fine for environmental damage of 59.3 billon tenge. Both claims were successfully appealed legally throughout 2013 and in February 2014," KazMunaiGas Exploration Production JSC said.

UMG is currently taking relevant measures on appealing against the claim.

KMG EP is among the top three Kazakh oil and gas producers. The overall production in 2013 was 12.4 million tons (251,000 barrels per day), including the company's share in Kazgermunai, CCEL (Karazhanbasmunai JSC) and PetroKazakhstan Inc.

The total volume of proven and probable reserves as of late 2012 was 204 million tons (1.5 billion barrels), 148 million tons (1.1 billion barrels) of which fell to UzenMunaiGas JSC and EmbaMunaiGas JSC.
