Former speaker of the Majilis (lower chamber) of Kazakh parliament, Nurlan Nigmatulin has been appointed the head of Kazakhstan's presidential administration, the country's presidency said on April 3.

"Nurlan Nigmatulin has been appointed Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan in accordance to the decree of the country's president," Kazakh presidency said.

Nigmatulin replaced Karim Massimov in this post and the latter again headed the government of Kazakhstan on April 2.

Nurlan Nigmatulin previously headed the Majlis of Kazakh parliament.

Nigmatulin was born in 1962 in Karaganda. He worked as deputy mayor of Astana city, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Deputy Head of Kazakhstan's Presidential Administration in different years. Nigmatulin worked as the head of the Karaganda province from 2006 to 2009. Then he worked as the first deputy chairman of Nur Otan party.

Nigmatulin has been the chairman of the Majlis of the Parliament of the fifth convocation and head of Nur Otan People's Democratic Party parliamentary faction in the parliament's Majlis since Jan. 20, 2012. He is also a member of Kazakhstan Security Council.
