The first Kazakhstan's earth remote sensing satellite KazEOSat-1 was successfully launched from the French Guiana Space Center, Kazakh Space Agency reported on April 30.

The launch was scheduled for April 29, 07:35 Astana time, but was postponed due to weather conditions.

KazEOSat-1 will operate for at least seven years.

This high-resolution observation satellite was built by French Airbus Defense and Space (Astrium) for the Earth Remote Sensing Satellite System of the government of Kazakhstan. Weighing 900 kilograms at launch, the KazEOSat 1 satellite was put in orbit by Arianespace's Vega light launcher.

Earth Remote Sensing Satellite System will ensure Kazakhstan's independence in obtaining on-line monitoring information and data for resolution of problems in a number of economy sectors.
The system will include KazEOSat-1 high resolution earth observation satellite and KazEOSat-2 medium resolution earth observation satellite.

KazEOSat-2 is scheduled to be launched in June. The preparation of the Dnepr rocket which will deliver KazEOSat-2 into orbit has been initiated.
