Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev together with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the logistics terminal construction in the seaport of Lianyungang, Akorda reported on May 20.
"During the ceremony, the presidents launched the opening of the first stage of the Kazakhstan-China logistics terminal construction, in a teleconference mode," according to the statement.
Lianyungang is one of world's 25 largest ports with well-developed transport infrastructure. The cargo area allotted for the Kazakh-Chinese terminal is 21.6 hectares.
The terminal construction will enable the processing and handling of Kazakhstan's transit cargo to South-East Asia, Australia and Canada, as well as cargo in the opposite direction.
