The MPs of the Majilis (lower house) of the Kazakh Parliament approved the ratification of the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Italy on the transit of military equipment and personnel through the territory of Kazakhstan in connection with the participation of the Italy Armed Forces in an effort to stabilize and recover Afghanistan.
In accordance with the conclusion of the Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security, transit of aircraft will be carried out on air routes specified in the Annex 2 to the Agreement, on the basis of permits issued by the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the use of Kazakhstan's airspace.
"The flights of aircraft in the Kazakh airspace for purposes of general agreement are executed in accordance with prescribed rules of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), by normative-legal acts of Kazakhstan in the sphere of usage of airspace and flight operations," the conclusion said.
The conclusion noted that the crews of aircraft that are within the airspace of Kazakhstan are obliged to strictly comply with the instructions (commands, recommendations) of the governing organs and organizations of air traffic of Kazakhstan. Furthermore, the Kazakh side provides air navigation services to aircraft in accordance with the laws of the Kazakh republic with collection of air navigation charges.
"Also, during the transition, undertaken within the framework of this agreement, military equipment and personnel are subjected to border and customs controls and, if necessary, other types of control in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the conclusion said.
