The defense ministers of Russia and Kazakhstan have made changes to the agreement on the rulses of airfield technical support, the Kazakh Defense Ministry reported.

Kazakh Defense Minister Serik Akhmetov met with the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu within the framework of the CIS Defense Ministers Council held in Astana, the report said.

The parties exchanged views on further cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia in the military-technical sphere.

The parties also noted the importance of improving the system of multilateral military cooperation within the CIS, as well as development of integration processes in the military field.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed on the amendment to the agreement between the defense ministries of the two countries on the organization of the reception, airfield technical support and protection of military aircraft on the military airfields of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan and Russia dated on October 19, 1994.
