A transition to the "green economy" must be carried out from the perspective of national interests, Kazakh Minister of Environment and Water Resources Nurlan Kapparov said at the council first meeting on the transition to the "green economy", chaired by Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov on July 30.

"Kazakhstan needs research, comprehensively considering this process from the perspective of national interests," Kapparov added.

The climate change requires careful study and constant monitoring. In his report, he outlined the country's regions and sectors of the economy most exposed to climate change consequences.

The council submitted a number of recommendations to the government. A complex of measures on Kazakhstan's adaptation to climate change will be worked out on their basis.

The Prime Minister instructed the heads of the concerned state agencies to submit the proposals, taking into account the recommendations of the council, to the government.
