Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation, during which they discussed the bilateral and regional cooperation issues, Acorda (residence of Kazakhstan's president) said on Aug.8.

"The presidents exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis, as well as the possibility of taking joint steps to hold direct talks with the Ukrainian president in various formats (Ukraine's meeting with members of the Customs Union or the extraordinary meeting of Council of CIS Heads of State)," Acorda said.

Moreover, Kazakh and Russian presidents discussed the upcoming meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents in Sochi.

"Vladimir Putin briefed Nursultan Nazarbayev about the steps taken by Russia to limit the import of agricultural products and foods from certain countries. It was emphasized that it is a unilateral act of Russia and doesn't concern other member states of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space," Acorda said.
