An earthquake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Almaty, the largest city of Kazakhstan, on August 16, Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry reported.
The earthquake measuring occurred at 3:42 a.m. local time (August 14, 9:42 pm Greenwich time), 41 kilometers to the east of the city of Almaty, according to Kazakhstan's Seismological Expedition of the Science Committee under Education and Science Ministry.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 5 kilometers.
Tremors measuring 4-5 were felt in Almaty, however no casualties or destructions were reported.
