Kyrgyzstan suggests OSCE to sit Taliban, opponents at negotiating table in Bishkek

Kadyrbek Sarbaev, the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan reminded the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe about Bishkek initiative to sit the Taliban and their opponents at the negotiating table, heading an official delegation to OSCE Ministerial Council in Athens, news agency "24.kg" reported.

Sarbaev outlined the key issues of cooperation with OSCE and voiced Kyrgyzstan's position on priority directions of cooperation in the line with the organization, including rehabilitation of Afghanistan. The minister pointed that the Bishkek initiative could become an ongoing platform for consolidation of opposing forces in Afghanistan, strengthening of regional security and stability in Central Asia.

The Foreign Minister has met with Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, OSCE Secretary General, George Krol, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs and his Hungarian, French and Slovak counterparts. Today Sarbaev plans to meet with George Papandreou, Prime Minister of Greece, OSCE chairman and other heads of delegations.
