Kurmanbek Bakiyev and ADB representative talks over water and power energy issues

Director General of Asian Development Bank Central and Western Asia Department Juan Miranda and Kyrgyzstan's President Kurmanbek Bakiyev discussed the issues of water and energy complex of the country at the meeting. The own sources of the news agency 24.kg said there was no discussion that ADB will render assistance to the country in conducting environmental assessment of construction of Kambar-Ata-1.

Kyrgyzstan and Asian Development Bank have been discussing prospects for cooperation during the meeting.

The head of the country, in particular, expressed gratitude to ADB for the rendered financial and technical support in implementation of projects in such key sectors of economy as transport, agriculture, prevention of emergency situations, education and development of infrastructure.

In his turn Mr. Miranda noted that ADB appreciates trusted partner relations with Kyrgyzstan and is interested in their further development. He also expressed gratitude for high appraisal of ADB's activity.

"Awarding ADB with a state award - Danaker order - is an expression of recognition of the bank's contribution into the economy of your country", said the official representative of the delegation.

During the meeting they also exchanged views on further strengthening of regional cooperation in Central Asia, particularly on the issues of trade policy and transport.
