UK to allocate over $1 mln to Kyrgyzstan for rural water supply development

UK will allocate a grant to Kyrgyzstan in the amount of over one million U.S. dollars through one of the international financial institutions in order to improve water supply in the Issyk-Kul, Naryn and Talas regions, Finance Minister of Kyrgyzstan Olga Lavrova said at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, KyrTAG reported on Monday.

UK will allocate a grant to Kyrgyzstan in the amount of over one million U.S. dollars through one of the international financial institutions in order to improve water supply in the Issyk-Kul, Naryn and Talas regions, Finance Minister of Kyrgyzstan Olga Lavrova said at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, KyrTAG reported on Monday.

"The Department for International Development of the UK through the International Development Association (IDA) will allocate 871, 600 pounds to Kyrgyzstan for the implementation of the second project for rural water supply and sanitation" Lavrova said.

Lavrova explained that these funds will be directed to sanitary and hygienic enlightenment of regions' residents and institutional development of strategy on drinking water supply development, training of staff and residents.
