Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev discussed current issues of bilateral relations and further steps to strengthen ties between the countries, Kyrgiz president's press service said on Friday.
The meeting was held in the framework of the Kazakh president's participation at the meeting of SCO member states council being held in Bishkek on September 13.
According to the statement, greeting the guest, Atambayev stressed that he is very glad the Kazakh president arrived in Kyrgyzstan and recalled their recent meeting at the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states.
In turn, the Kazakh head stressed the importance of the Bishkek summit.
The sides noted the importance of the event in promoting issues of regional security and cooperation.
The summit in Bishkek is attended by Chinese head Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Uzbek President Islam Karimov, as well as the heads of observer countries - Afghanistan, Iran, Mongolia, and Foreign Minister of India and Pakistan's Prime Minister's advisor on Foreign Policy.
