Kyrgyzstan and the Council of Europe discussed the prospects of cooperation during the meeting of Kyrgyz Parliament's speaker with Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CE) Gabriella Battaini Dragoni in Strasburg, Kabar news agency reported on June 25.

The negotiations were held with the participation of the Kyrgyz delegation in PACE's summer session.

The sides discussed the prospects of cooperation in the framework of the status
"Partner for Democracy" of PACE, received by Kyrgyzstan, as well as the CE's "Neighborhood Strategy" policy, according to the statement of the Kyrgyz parliament.

Battaini Dragoni stressed activation of the process of democratic reforms in Kyrgyzstan and informed participants about the progress of negotiation on the project of priority cooperation plans based on the Neighborhood Policy for the years 2014-2016.

She also stressed that Kyrgyzstan could become a member of CE's structures and the country has full support in achieving goals in this direction.

"We are ready to help Kyrgyzstan to enter the legal space of the CE within our partnership", - she said.
