Kyrgyz and Kazakh Prime-Ministers Djoomart Otorbaev and Karim Massimov agreed to intensify negotiations on Kyrgyzstan joining to the Customs Union and the Eurasian economic space of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, the Kyrgyz Government's office reported on July 14.
The Prime Ministers of the two countries held a meeting in Bishkek during Karim Massimov's working visit to Kyrgyzstan on July 12.
Kazakhstan agreed to assist Kyrgyzstan in implementing of the Roadmap on the accession to the integration union. The both sides noted interest in deepening of trade and economic cooperation.
The prime ministers also discussed the issues of oil and petroleum products supplies to Kyrgyzstan, the acceleration of Kyrgyz-Kazakh private equity fund creation and pest control, particularly in the supply of Kyrgyz dairy and meat products to Kazakhstan.
The heads of the governments also discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of energy, irrigation water supply, as well as disputes between the economic entities of both countries.
Moreover, Djoomart Otorbaev and Karim Massimov discussed the organization of summer tourist season at the Issyk-Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan. In particular, the parties paid special attention to the operation of checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border and the improvement of their infrastructure.
Kazakh tourists heading to Kyrgyzstan's resorts should not have any problems at the border, both prime ministers said.
"We have stirred up our tour operators, and will bring Kazakh tourists here. It serves good for our people and for your business," Karim Massimov said.
Kazakhstan is the third major trading partners of Kyrgyzstan in the terms of trade turnover.
The trade turnover between the two countries hit $185.5 million in January-March 2014 including $66.9 million of Kyrgyz export and $118.6 million of Kyrgyz import.
