Russia ratifies agreement with Tajikistan on propellant waste recycling

The Federation Council has ratified on Wednesday an intergovernmental agreement with Tajikistan on cooperation for the safe recycling of waste of solid propellants containing beryllium, RIA Novosti reported.

Speaking at the meeting, the chairman of Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Mikhail Margelov said that we are talking about products and wastes of fuel accumulated in the storage of Zarya Vostoka (Dawn of the East) in Tajikistan.

It is assumed that the work will be conducted in two phases, first phase - the development of technical proposals for the recycling, the second stage - the recycling of fuel waste and products, including the elimination of technical documentation related to their production.

The senator noted that the financing costs of implementing the agreement will be implemented through the federal budget.

"However, we must remember that recycling methods developed during the implementation of the agreement, can be used in Russia without the currently used expensive equipment," Margelov said.
