The deputies of Tajikistan's lower house of the parliament have endorsed the bill on safety of food products, Asia-Plus reported on Friday.
At the session, while presenting the bill, Tajik Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Ms. Gulchehra Bozorova, said that the services of international experts had been enlisted for working out the bill and the food product safety was one of requirements for Tajikistan's admission to the World Trade Organizations (WTO).
"This bill is aimed at, fist of all, protecting lives and health of people, the population and promoting environmental protection," said the deputy minister.
"The bill also determines measures of state control over production, transportation and sale of food products."
Under this bill, the main responsibility for safety of food products is borne by a producer, Ms. Bozorova added.
