Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon lauded the close ties between Tehran and Dushanbe, and stated that the two countries' strong ties will serve the interests of the region, FNA reported.
The issue was raised by Rahmon in a message to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday.
He also felicitated Iranian nation on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and extended his best wishes to his Iranian counterpart and the Iranian nation.
Iran and Tajikistan have recently accelerated expansion of their ties and cooperation and observers believe that the good achievements gained in area of their mutual cooperation should be deemed as a result of the efforts made by the two countries' officials.
President Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Rahmon in Dushanbe in March reiterated that Iran's foreign policy has no restriction for bolstering cooperation with Tajikistan.
