Tajikistan's Parliament ratified the intergovernmental agreement between Moscow and Dushanbe on the status and the terms of Russian military bases' presence in the country, Avesta.tj reported on Tuesday.
Commenting this agreement Tajikistan's Defence Minister Sherali Khayrulloyev said that the base's presence meet the strategic partnership between the two countries and provides stability in the region.
He added that the base will assist the liquidation of threats, including destabilization on the borders.
He believes that the unit may be used when militants enter the country.
