EU ambassador ends diplomatic mission in Tajikistan

By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Head of European Union Delegation to Tajikistan Eduard Auer ends his diplomatic mission, Tajik Foreign Ministry reported.

Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Aslov met with Eduard Auer on this occasion on August 4.
During the meeting the sides expressed satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on the prospects of further deepening of relations.

At the end of the meeting Tajik foreign minister wished the ambassador successes in his future diplomatic activity.

Relations with EU are the important priority in the foreign policy of Tajikistan.
The EU and Tajikistan signed the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in 2004 and it came into force on 1 January 2010. The agreement creates a legal basis to regulate and enhance bilateral relations between the sides.

Regionally, the political framework for EU-Tajikistan relations is provided by the European Union and Central Asia: Strategy for a New Partnership adopted by the European Council in June 2007.
