Wages, state benefits and pensions will be raised in Turkmenistan in January 1, 2013, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said on Monday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers which summed up the economic development of the first six months of the year and outlined tasks for the second half.

According to the decree 'On increasing of wages, pensions and government benefits in Turkmenistan', signed by President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, wages of employees of budget institutions, self-supporting enterprises and public organisations, as well as the size of allowances will increase by 10 per cent and pensions by 15 per cent.

The document established the maximum amount of pensions at 742 manat per month from January 1, 2013. The minimum pension is set at 725 manat per month, maximum - 978 manat for participants of the Great Patriotic War.

The maximum size of pensions set at 890 manat for veterans, their spouses and veterans who fought on the home front. A number of parameters required for calculating retirement pensions and state benefits are also identified.

The document defined the new salaries of heads of state power and administration, local executive authorities and local self-government, military and law enforcement agencies, newspapers and magazines, public organisations and their basic structural units from January 1, 2013.
