Turkmenistan begins autumn sowing

Turkmenistan has launched a massive planting of winter wheat, the Ministry of Agriculture said.

Some 860,000 hectares allocated under the crop, from which 1.6 million tons of grain will be collected in 2013, including the Akhal region - 450,000, Mary - 380,000 Lebap - 350,000, Dashoguz - 300,000 and the Balkans - 120,000 tons.

Local high-yielding varieties of wheat, as well as those purchased in the Stavropol region of the Russian Federation were being prepared for sowing.

Turkmenistan year harvested more than 1, 200, 00 million tons of wheat this year. Roughly 2000 Case, John Deer and Claas combines are involved in harvesting.

The Turkmengallaonumleri Association of Grain Products allowed the selling of 300,000 tons of wheat from last year's harvest volume which exceeds domestic needs, to foreign markets.
