Turkmenistan has held demonstrative tactical exercises with the participation of military units and law enforcement agencies on Wednesday, an official Turkmen source said.
According to earlier reports of the Turkmen government, the issue of training was discussed at a joint meeting of government and State security council.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasizing the need to ensure a high organizational level of preparation for the demonstrative tactical exercises Khazar 2012, which should demonstrate modern strong defensive capabilities of country's armed forces, drew attention to the fact that it will allow the military to master combat skills, will provide opportunities for professional development.
Stressing that the government will continue to take care of the steady rise of the combat potential of all the structures of the national army, improving the life and service of the military, including the navy, Berdimuhamedov wished success to the participants.
According to a recent presidential decree, the country will establish a naval base by 2015.
