The deputy head of State Customs Merdan Miradov has been sacked for serious shortcomings in his work, the official Turkmen resource reports. The decree was signed by the president Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedow.

The Turkmen head of the state demands there is provision of thorough, but 'very delicate' examination of goods, including transit goods.

Moreover, Berdimuhamedow stresses that customs officials have to be very delicate, friendly and hospitable towards the people crossing Turkmen border while performing their duties which will contribute towards the country's prestige.

Official Ashkhabad considers the rapid development of large scale North-South and East-West corridor facility increased Central Asia-Persian gulf communication network and development of transport in the Caspian -Black Sea region as being a priority.

Turkmenistan together with neighbouring countries is particularly keen on the development of the North-South regional railway project.

Sea freight is also of great importance in the foreign economic relations of Turkmenistan. The volume of freight is managed at Caspian harbour berths. In this regard the general plan of the seaport development at the Caspian city of Turkmenbashi and a national merchant marine base till 2020 has been confirmed.
