President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov received the president and chief executive officer of Dresser-Rand Group, Inc. Vincent R. Volpe, the Turkmen government said on Thursday.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the fuel and energy complex (FEC). The parties discussed providing compressor equipment and servicing of oil and gas facilities and the gas processing infrastructure, as well as training of specialists.
The government report said that the head of the French company stressed the desire of European businesses to expand their presence in the promising Turkmen market.
Berdimuhammadov noted that accelerated industrial development led to increased demand of the national economy in the production of high technology and advanced equipment.
At this stage, the French company in Turkmenistan are presented in areas such as construction, transport, tourism and energy. Bouygues, VINCI Construction and Thales International are operating on the Turkmen market.
The energy industry plays a special role in the trade relationship of France and Turkmenistan. In particular, Total which is the fourth largest oil company in the world may be involved in the development of the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea and exploration of possibilities of gas transportation to Europe in the near future. CIFAL and Gas de France also expressed interest to cooperate.
