Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Elchin Efendiyev, Turkmen TV reported on Thursday.

Efendiyev arrived in Ashgabat at the head of a delegation to participate in the celebration of the international Novruz holiday, celebrated on March 21 in the Turkmen capital at the regional level.

Ongoing consultations on a regular basis and meetings between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan "directly contribute to the growth of trade and engaged discussion of new joint projects", said in the television report.

The parties have expressed mutual desire of both countries to give more fruitful traditional partnership, originally built on the principles of equality, respect and mutual benefit, which evidenced number of steps that was taken, including the establishment of an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

The two sides also discussed the progress in implementing the bilateral agreements, and exchanged views on some issues of interstate cooperation.

"The Turkmen people have always valued the relations with its nearest neighbors, positive partnership with which determine today favorable political and economic climate in the region" - said in the statement of Berdymukhamedov.

Two Caspian countries are interested in the use of alternative ways for the withdrawal of energy in the Caspian region to Europe. One of their important projects is the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, which can become part of large-scale projects TANAP, Nabucco.

Today Azerbaijan is actively transported the Turkmen oil.
