Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, July 8 / Trend, H. Hasanov /

Turkmenistan will continue to implement an action plan to prevent and fight fires during the high risk period till September 1, "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported on Monday.

The campaign includes experts from various departments; certain parts of the work is carried out by the employees of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan.

"You can imagine how important this project is now, when the heat has dried grass, and dead wood is an especially high risk zone. Enhanced prevention works and all measures are being taken to prevent fire in such zones," the article said.

Small tractors are plowing protective strips near forest plantations, which will prevent the passage of fire, eliminating risk from the hills located beyond, where all vegetation gets burned by the sun. Hundred hectares of coniferous plantations, agricultural fields, orchards and vineyards are the subject of protection efforts.

Measures for the prevention of fires are also held in the recreational area of the foothills of the Kopet Dag mountain, where residents and visitors of the capital love to rest in the shade of the trees near the rivers during summer.

According to the action plan, which is to date has been implemented by the Ministry of Nature Protection at nearly 170 percent, continues to enlarge the tilled area and cleaning of dry vegetation by hand where the equipment may not work, and continue the irrigation works and other preventive measures.

With the beginning summer and coming of dry weather in Turkmenistan, the risk of fires greatly increases. This issue is regularly discussed by the authorities of the country at meetings which bring together representatives of regional administrations and the administration of Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It was reported that the president of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of comprehensive measures to prevent possible spontaneous combustion of crops and harvest. Currently grain harvesting is being carried out in the country.
