The signing of a package of intergovernmental documents was held in Chisinau during the first official visit of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Moldova from July 24 to 25, Turkmen government's report said.

A memorandum of understanding between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries, a consultation plan between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in 2013-2014, an intergovernmental agreement on cultural cooperation, and a convention on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of income and property tax evasion were signed, the report said.

According to the State Information Service Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary, the Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti noted that the parties agreed to give priority to improving cooperation in economics, trade, energy and the agro-industrial sector.

For this purpose, there is an agreement to create an intergovernmental Turkmen-Moldova commission on trade and economic cooperation.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the constructive nature of the talks. According to him, issues of bilateral cooperation in transport and communications were objects of special attention.

"Turkmenistan and the Republic of Moldova agreed that it is necessary to strengthen cooperation in building a transit corridor from Asia to Europe via the Caspian and Black Sea regions," the Turkmen President said.
