President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov speaking at the VII Congress of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan decided to withdraw from the duties of the chairman of the political structure, Turkmen government reported on Saturday.
"In the country political system itself is being improved, and new parties, which have a completely different point of view ... In order to comply with the equality of rights for all and to create equal conditions for the different parties, I have come to the decision for a period as president of Turkmenistan to suspend its membership in the ranks of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan "- said in the statement of the Turkmen leader.
According to him, during the ascent of the society to the new stage of development, president as the guarantor of the Constitution, must refrain from membership in a political party.
Turkmen president promised that in the future would be subject to the development of representative bodies of democracy and recalled that recently there had all the conditions in order to allow citizens to relaize their legitimate right to establish political parties.
In August 2012 in Ashgabat with the participation of 300 delegates representing business organizations from all regions of the country, was established Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. Creating a new party was made possible thanks to the law "On political parties" adopted early last year. Till that time, in Turkmenistan was registered only one political organization - the Democratic Party.
