Hasanov / Chinese President Xi Jinping starts his Central Asian tour (from September 3 to September 13) in Turkmenistan, according to Turkmen government. According to the report, preparations are underway in Ashgabat for the upcoming state visit of the Chinese president on September 3-4. A large spectrum of issues concerning further development of intergovernmental relations will be put on the agenda of high level Turkmen-Chinese negotiations in Ashgabat. It is planned to sign a package of bilateral documents 'aimed at optimal implementation of mutual cooperation potential in various areas and diversification of mutually beneficial relations given new opportunities and prospects'. Currently China is in first place in the total volume of Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover. Work on expanding an assortment of export and import goods continues. China became one of Turkmenistan's long tern partners in the oil and gas sphere and is the largest creditor of the country's Fuel and Energy Complex. The transnational Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline running through the territories of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was put into operation in 2009.
