Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a Joint Declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership between the countries in Ashgabat.
The Chinese leader was on a state visit in Turkmenistan on September 3-4 2013. The declaration was issued to the public on Wednesday.
The parties , as stated in the document unanimously decided to raise bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership.
"Regardless of any situation changes in the region and in the world, the development of the Turkmen- Chinese relations on strategic partnership will remain one of the priorities of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan and China," the document said.
These days the heads of the states exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, as well as in international and regional issues of mutual interest.
It was implied that the parties intend to expand cooperation in such fields as infrastructure construction , telecommunications , chemicals , textiles, agriculture, health care and high technology .
The two countries will accelerate the implementation and modernization of the telecommunications network of Turkmenistan and cooperation in the use of satellites in various fields. The parties intend to implement the agreement on the provision of grants and loans.
According to the Declaration, the sides will take measures to promote and protect mutual investments, will provide support to businesses for commercial activities in the territories of their countries, will consider improving the travel procedures for the businessmen of the two countries involved in the implementation of major projects.
The two sides highly evaluate the results and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sphere.
22 Chinese companies operate in Turkmenistan and they are involved in 65 joint projects. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992.
