A day of silence was announced in Turkmenistan on Saturday before the parliamentary election in the country. The election campaign will end today in accordance with the Election Code of the country, according to the Turkmen Central Election Commission.

"One of the most important campaign stages - agitational ended in the country in accordance with the electoral law," according to the report.

All polling stations are ready in Turkmenistan, according to the report.

The voting will be held at all polling stations in Turkmenistan on December 15 from 7:00 to 19:00. Around 125 MPs will be elected to the Majlis - the national parliament.

Around 2,446 polling stations were opened on the territory of Turkmenistan. Around 33 more polling stations were created at the Turkmen diplomatic missions, including in Azerbaijan.

The mission of the CIS countries, as well as the observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and others will observe the election in Turkmenistan.

During the recent government meeting, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of the upcoming parliamentary elections as an important socio-political event in the country and another effective step towards further democratization of the Turkmen society.
