A meeting was held at the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the newly appointed Ambassador of Great Britain in Turkmenistan, Sanjay Wadvani, according to a message of the Turkmen government.

During the meeting the ambassador handed over copies of his credentials, according to the message.

The sides also discussed issues of further intensification of Turkmen-British cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, the Turkmen government said.

"The sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between the two countries within international organisations and first of all within the UN," according to the message.

In November 2013, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received a member of the British Royal Family - Prince Andrew, Duke of York. The prince noted during the meeting that London attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Turkmenistan, and sees this country as "a promising and responsible partner".
