Chairman of the Majlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan Akja Nurberdieva received credentials of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belgium Carine Petit, a message from Turkmen government said on Jan.10.

During the meeting, the Belgian diplomat was informed about the priorities and main directions of domestic and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, "the most important sector of which was and remains the establishment of broad international cooperation for overall peace, security and sustainable development", according to the information.

"Belgian ambassador highly appreciated the prospects of development of Turkmen-Belgian cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral format, including through inter-parliamentary relations, major international organizations and within a dynamically developing dialogue with EU countries, cooperation with which is an important vector of Turkmenistan's foreign policy ", the message from the Turkmen government said.

Ashgabat and Brussels have intensified economic relations in recent years. The official representation in Ashgabat opened Belgian ENEX process engineering SA, working in processing and chemical industries, telecommunications, as well as the introduction of environmentally friendly energy-saving technologies.
