Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has reorganized the Ministry of Construction into the Ministry of Construction and Architecture by signing a relevant decree, a message from the country's government said on April 5.

"In this connection, construction and manufacturing companies, as well as the organizations of the Ministry of Construction are handed over to the Ministry of Industry and regional administrations, as well as the city of Ashgabat, " the message from the Turkmen government said.

The Ministry of Construction and Architecture is entrusted with a number of obligations, including the implementation of quality control over the preparation of projects on construction of buildings and facilities, as well as on the construction works carried out in the country, the government's message said.

The ministry will also be engaged in working out and implementation of new urban development projects and will fulfill coordinating functions.

Batyr Ereshov headed the new structure.

Currently, construction of over 2,000 large facilities totaling $40 billion continues in Turkmenistan.

Turkmen TV channel Altyn Asyr reported on the report submitted by the Turkmen Prosecutor General's Office at a government meeting on the inspection of the construction of various facilities in the regions.

In particular, the country's president expressed his dissatisfaction with the course of the national program on the village transformation, according to the report.

"The coordination of the upcoming operations between the relevant departments, as well as the allocation of land plots for construction are delayed," according to the statement. "The president voiced reprimands in connection with choosing the construction companies and enterprises to implement the planned projects in Turkmenistan."

The heads of Babadayhan district, Akhal district, Koytendag district of Lebap province and Bayramali district of Mary province of Turkmenistan were dismissed for committing significant shortcomings in their work.
