By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:

Relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are developing even more, according to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Berdimuhamedov made the remarks at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Turkmen government said Monday, April 14.

"Our kind relations with fraternal Kazakhstan develop even more and expand, and the task of our country's culture and art figures is to enrich this dialogue, make it even more profound, promote strengthening of friendly relations and creative dialogue between the two peoples," Berdimuhamedov said.

Kazakhstan will host Turkmenistan's Culture Days between April 29 and May 2.

'Neutral Turkmenistan' newspaper reported on April 14 that Turkmen president also signed a decree approving Turkmen side's composition in the Turkmen-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.

Ashgabat believes that commissioning of Turkmen-Kazakh section of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway in May 2013 helps to create new opportunities for enhancing the intergovernmental cooperation.

The two Caspian countries also cooperate to bring their energy resources to external markets - deliver Kazakh oil in southerly direction to the Persian Gulf and Turkmen gas northerly to Russia, Ukraine and Europe, as well as to China.

The launch of Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline in December 2009 was a notable event in this sphere.

This pipeline makes it possible to supply Kazakhstan's southern regions with gas and on the other hand to export Turkmen gas to China.

Earlier in 2014, Turkmenistan expanded its official presence in Kazakhstan.

A consulate was opened in early 2014 in Aktau, the regional centre of Kazakhstan's Mangistau region, which is neighboring with Turkmenistan's Balkan velayat (region).

This border area is home for a large Turkmen diaspora.
