A Turkmen government delegation met with Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh, the Turkmen government said on May 14.

"The sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further intensify a bilateral dialogue, discussed the priorities of developing the cooperation between Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia in various fields, as well as through the foreign ministries," according to a statement.

The Turkmen delegation arrived in the capital of Saudi Arabia to participate in the Forum on Economy and Cooperation of Arab Countries with Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.

The officials from the countries participating in the forum discussed prospects for developing cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, agriculture, trade and investments, according to the report.

Diplomatic relations between Ashgabat and Riyadh were established in 1992.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid the first official visit to Saudi Arabia in April 2007. A general cooperation agreement was signed during this visit. The two countries are exploring the partnership opportunities in the fields of fuel and energy , cement and other building material production, as well as agriculture, animal husbandry, cultivation of grain and forage crops.
