Ashgabat hosted a workshop of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) regional project "Climate Risk Management in Turkmenistan", implemented with the support of the Turkmen Ministry of Nature Protection, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on May 15.

The outcome of the workshop was to discuss and approve the "road map" for the creation of Turkmenistan's climate profile this year.

Rational water and land use and agricultural farms reference in three pilot areas (Nohur, Sakarchaga and Bokurdak) have been conducted as part of the project since 2000.

"For example, modern planning of land resources will be conducted in the irrigated agriculture area Sakarchaga with the help of purchased equipment," according to the article.

The purpose of the last workshop is to make recommendations to mitigate climate change. The matter rests in the approaches to the assessment of damages from climate change and natural disasters.
