Toyly Atayev was appointed Turkmen Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany (Berlin City), according to the presidential decree on May 17.

The recent trade turnover between the two countries increased by 11 percent. Over 60 business entities with German capital opened their branches and representative offices in Turkmenistan. More than 140 joint projects have been implemented so far.

Turkmenistan is interested in drawing huge capital and advanced technologies of Germany. The sides regularly conduct joint business forums. The representatives of companies specializing in trade, energy, chemical industry, banking, transport, communications, construction, industry and agricultural sector attend these forums. RWE, Bosch, KNAUF International, STRABAG AG, CLAAS Global Sales GmbH, Siemens AG Healthcare Sector, Goetzpartners Management Consultans GmbH and others are among them.

The Turkmen government has established cooperation with RWE, one of the leading traders of natural gas on the EU market. It signed a production sharing agreement (PSA) in the development of offshore fields in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea in 2009.
