Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed preparation for the next meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government, scheduled for November 2014 in Ashgabat during the meeting with Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev in Ashgabat, the Turkmen government said on June 25.
The two sides exchanged views on prospects of cooperation within the CIS.
"As an associate member of the CIS, Turkmenistan intends to continue actively promoting the comprehensive strengthening of fruitful economic and cultural-humanitarian ties within the CIS on a bilateral and multilateral basis", Turkmen president said.
While referring to the permanent neutrality status, recognized and supported by the UN, Ashgabat made a decision on its participation in the CIS structure as an associate member in 2005.
Turkmenistan chaired the CIS and held about 30 events in 2012.
