Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree to open an embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in order to further develop the bilateral relations with this country.

The two countries are involved in a major project on delivering gas from Central Asia, primarily, from Turkmenistan to China.

Turkmenistan and China have a long-term agreement on increasing the gas supply to 65 billion cubic meters by 2020.

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) began to buy fuel in this region in 2009 after the first two lines of the gas pipeline, running from Turkmenistan through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, were commissioned.

The third, C Line of the pipeline, has been put into operation recently.

Currently, the work is underway on constructing the additional, fourth line (D) through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
