Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Uzbekistan Wolfgang Neuen, who worked in this position since December 2009, completes his diplomatic mission in the country, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry told Trend.
In connection with the completion of the mission, on Friday the German Ambassador was received by management of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
The Foreign Ministry expressed its gratitude to Neuen for fruitful activity for the development of bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, the progressive development of Uzbek-German cooperation in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields was noted.
Germany is one of the main trade partners of Uzbekistan in Europe. Together with the leading companies of Germany investment projects totaling over one billion euros were implemented in Uzbekistan.
In 2011, the Uzbek-German trade turnover grew by 13.8 percent - up to $ 549.5 million.
Some 114 enterprises established with participation of investors from Germany operate in Uzbekistan and representatives of 50 German firms and companies are accredited.
The German government under the financial and technical cooperation provided to Uzbekistan more than 300 million euros, including 248.2 million euros under the financial cooperation, and about 58.4 million euros under the technical cooperation.
Uzbekistan shows great interest in studying the German language, German achievements in science and technology, as well as in Germany more and more people want to learn about the history and culture of Uzbek people.
Neuen, in turn, thanked for their help in carrying out his mission, and expressed confidence that relations between Germany and Uzbekistan have a solid foundation for further development in the interests of both parties.
